Înotătorul David Popovici va participa la competiția Sette Colli Trophy de la Roma
Înotătorul David Popovici, dublu campion mondial şi european la 100 şi 200 de metri liber, va lua startul în cele două probe la ediţia a 59-a a concursului Sette Colli Trophy de la Foro Italico (Roma), o competiţie internaţională care se desfăşoară între 23 şi 25 iunie.
La competiţia italiană şi-au anunţat participarea aproape 500 de sportivi din 30 de ţări.
Sette Colli Trophy nu este o competiție renumită, dar pentru sportivii de mare performanță din natație, constituie o bună etapă de pregătire pentru Campionatele Mondiale de la Fukuoka (Japonia) din perioada 13-30 Iulie, unde David Popovici va concura la probele de 100 și 200 de metri liber.
Printre concurenţii de top se numără britanicii Tom Dean, campion olimpic la 200 m liber, Lewis Burras, deţinătorul recordului naţional la 100 m liber, Matts Richards şi Duncan Scott, campioni olimpici cu ştafeta de 4×200 m liber, ungurul Kristof Milak, campion olimpic la 200 m fluture, şi italianul Thomas Ceccon, campion mondial la 100 m spate şi ştafetă 4×100 m mixt.
La Foro Italico vor fi prezenţi şi alţi înotători români, care vor profita de acest concurs de verificare pentru competiţiile ulterioare: Alexandru Stoica (50 şi 100 m liber), Daniel Nicuşan (50, 100 şi 200 m bras), Denis Popescu (50 şi 100 m spate, 50 m fluture), Andrei Anghel (50, 100 m spate, 50 m fluture), Tobias Dumitrache (50, 100 şi 200 m fluture), Andrei Ungur (50 şi 100 m spate, 50 m fluture, 100 m liber), Daniel Martin (50 şi 100 m fluture), Mihai Gergely (50, 100 m liber, 200 m mixt), Henrietta Fangli (50, 100 şi 200 m bras), Victoriţa Bogdăneci (50, 100 m fluture).
Finala probei de 100 de metri liber are loc Sâmbătă, iar cea de 200 de metri liber este programată pentru Duminică.
