Peste jumătate din suprafața Rezervației Deltei Dunării, afectată din cauza nivelului scăzut al apei

Zone întinse din Delta Dunării riscă să devină, în timp, mlaștină sau chiar porțiuni de uscat, în condițiile menținerii unui debit scăzut al fluviului și a colmatării canalelor, care îngreunează circulația apei. Degajarea canalelor de sedimente și adâncirea căilor de navigație se face anevoios, însă există planuri pentru îmbunătățirea situației.
Peste jumătate din suprafața Rezervației Deltei Dunării este afectată din cauza nivelului scăzut al apei și a colmatării canalelor. Doina Bâscă, directorul executiv al Administrației Rezervației, spune că se intervine pentru decolmatare pe aproape toată suprafața zonei protejate:
„În momentul de față, putem spune că 50% cel puțin este afectată, adică nivelul nu este cel optim pentru apă. Discutăm de lucrări pe canale de diverse lungimi. Total sunt aproximativ 150 de kilometri, care se decolmatează acum. Cele 3 proiecte sunt răspândite pe aproximativ 80%, să spunem, din suprafață.“
Situația are efecte grave. Umplerea canalelor cu aluviuni, combinată cu seceta, afectează tot ce înseamnă viața în Deltă, transportul către casă al localnicilor, pescuitul tradițional, dar și turismul, prin închiderea unor trasee pe apă.
Eduard Axente este ghid în Delta Dunării și cunoaște bine situația:
„În afară de faptul că nu mai putem folosi o bună parte dintre traseele aprobate, pentru că sunt colmatate, situația este dezastruoasă. În Deltă, apele sunt foarte mici și implicit sunt lacuri care au secat, ceea ce înseamnă că nu este pește, ceea ce înseamnă că n-o să mai fie păsări…“
Pe lângă proiectele mari de decolmatare, finanțate cu fonduri europene, care cer mult timp de pregătire, este nevoie și de intervenții rapide. Directorul executiv al ARBDD crede că acestea vor fi posibile odată cu achiziționarea unui echipament special, la care se va adăuga un program de monitorizare a situației de pe canale:
„Un alt ajutor foarte bun este modelul hidraulic, acea capabilitate de a prognoza ce zone sunt vulnerabile, pe baza, evident, a datelor pe care senzorii le cumulează din teren. Până în 2026 noi spunem că vom avea această modelare hidraulică. Dacă vom reuși și achiziția utilajului, este posibil ca, în câțiva ani, să intrăm pe o linie mai bună pentru tot ce înseamnă biodiversitatea din Deltă și pentru locuitorii Deltei.“
